We'll learn about their musical influences, and hear what projects the band is working on including an upcoming show on Saturday, May 30, at The Birk in Birkenfeld, OR
Here''s what to expect (in their own words)
"Rockin' Blues with a little country and some groove to dance to!"
influences include: (this means we'''ll be spinning some great tunes from these artists)
Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Bo Diddley, Muddy Waters, Buddy Guy, John Paul Jones, James Jamerson, Rocco Prestia, Tommy Shannon, Marcus Miller, Steve Gadd, Neil Peart, Keith Moon, Terry Bozio, Stewart Copeland
About the band:
Kenny Lee started Kenny Lee and the Sundowners in 1992. He was well established on the Oregon coast until 2002, when he move...d to Portland, he played on. In 2006, Kenny invited Mike Taylor to play bass in the band. In 2011, Alan Wicks re-joined (after an 8 year absence) to play drums in the band.
When you come to a Sundowners show, you’ll hear blues standards that have been stamped with the bands own imprint, some classic rock tunes and many original songs.
Kenny Lee writes about real life experiences. The original songs are blues based, however, because of the diverse background and musical influences of the individual band members, the blues is not the only thing you will hear.
You may notice a Hank Jr. sound along with some funk and a lot of Jimi, that adds a psychedelic element to the music. The shows are high energy, great for dancing or just rockin’ out!
